FAQ

  • What are the requirements to join ASME?

We only require incoming members to meet two conditions: firstly you must be enrolled at UNT as a student or staff, and secondly you must pay semester dues to have access to our non-general meetings.

  • How much does it cost to join ASME?

As of the 2019–2020 academic year, dues are $15 and last till the end of the school year. Your dues cover the costs of a T-shirt and food and refreshments you may enjoy during our meetings.

  • Do I need to join ASME national?

We, the UNT chapter of ASME, do not require you have a membership with ASME national. We do reccommend that you network and explore what ASME national has to offer in addition to the UNT chapter, including possible benefits on an international scale.

  • Why are there dues?

Dues enable us to provide member projects, events, and food at the majority of our meetings, in addition to the quality T-shirt with which you can represent our organization, designed by our team of student officers.

  • How many meetings per semester?

We aim to bring our members 6–8 meetings held every other week each semester. Some are general meetings, but others require membership. Meetings include presentations from and networking with industry professionals and recruiters, team-building activities, and other quality events.

  • When are meetings?

Check our social media accounts and the calendar page on this site to get up to date info on where and when meetings are held and events occur.

  • Do I need to remain active?

We do not have minimum participation requirements, but we highly encourage you to get involved and attend events and meeting when you are able.
